Fall Pet Safety Tips!

By October 12, 2023No Comments

It’s very important to continue your pet’s preventatives! Dogs and Cats need year round heartworm, flea, and tick prevention. Did you know that the Black Legged Tick carry’s Lyme disease and is more active in the fall?

Summer has ended and all the children have gone back to school so now your pet may be home alone more than he/she is accustomed to. This can cause depression and boredom which can cause your pet to get themselves into trouble in the home, such as chewing on household items, getting into the trash, etc. You can help with this by devoting time each day for special play and bonding time with your pet.

The holidays are approaching and with that comes holiday decor! We advise you to be careful with plants such as Chrysanthemums and even pumpkins and hay! Pumpkins and hay left for outside decor can grow toxic mold that can cause your pet to be very sick if ingested!

Be careful with pet Halloween costumes! You don’t want to put your pet into anything that is too tight or could cause airway restriction.

Prepare your pet now for Trick or Treaters! Make sure you have a safe room set aside in case the constant ringing of the doorbell or knocking causes overstimulation. Also, make sure the candy bowl is safely out of reach of all pets!
